Kiribati Youth Voices
Pacific Youth Voices is about listening to and celebrating the voices of Kiribati young people across the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua. Led by PICTBOP, the study will bring youth, families and communities together through culturally safe surveys and talanoa to share their experiences, strengths and hopes for wellbeing. What we learn will help create stronger, more welcoming support and services for Kiribati young people and their communities.

What young people told us
Pacific Youth Voices is about listening to and celebrating the voices of Kiribati young people in New Zealand.
Between the 6th and the 11th of July 2026, Kiribati communities from all over New Zealand descended onto the Bay of Plenty for a weeklong sports carnival and celebration of Kiribati Independence.
The project, funded by the Public Health Department of HealthNZ, used this opportunity to conduct an online, anonymous survey of young people on a wide variety of health topics.
